Staircases

Bespoke wooden staircases: we survey in your home

Measured to the millimetre

Riser height, going, stairwell opening: a staircase is calculated from the actual building. We come and measure before we draw.

Swiss standards met

Balustrade heights, baluster spacing, step dimensions: compliant, checked, written into the quote.

Matching timber and balustrades

Oak, ash, walnut. Glass, metal or timber balustrades, depending on how much light you want to keep in the stairwell.

Renovating an existing staircase

You do not always need to replace everything: treads, risers or the balustrade on their own are often possible.

Real-world constraints

Why a staircase is designed on site

Dimensions calculated and written down

Riser height, going, balustrade height: the values are calculated, compliant, and written into the quote.

Arriving at the right point in the build

On a new build, the staircase is surveyed once the stairwell opening has been cast. Arriving too early guarantees rework.

Timber chosen for wear

A staircase takes foot traffic every day. Not every timber is up to it, and we tell you which before you choose.

Our method

How it works

Step 1

We come and measure

A free appointment at your home. We take real measurements, listen to what you have in mind, and spot the constraints nobody sees on a plan.

Step 2

Itemised quote, with a 3D plan when the project calls for it

You receive an itemised quote. For larger projects (kitchen, complete fit-out, staircase), we include a 3D plan so you can see the result before deciding. Nothing starts without your written approval.

Step 3

Built in Grens

Everything is made in our workshop, five minutes from Nyon. FSC/PEFC certified timbers, finishes checked piece by piece before anything leaves.

Step 4

Installation & follow-up

Our team installs everything cleanly in your home. We check that it is perfect, make any final adjustments, and stay available for follow-up.

FAQ

Your questions answered

Can you renovate an existing staircase?

Often yes. Depending on the condition of the structure, we can replace just the treads, the risers or the balustrade. We will tell you after the survey.

Do your staircases meet Swiss standards?

Yes. Step dimensions and balustrades comply with current standards, and the specifications are set out in the quote.

Do you install staircases in new builds?

Yes. We survey the stairwell opening once the shell is complete, then build in the workshop before installation.

Is a wooden staircase noisy?

Not if it is well made. Creaks come from joints that move: it is a question of workmanship, not of material.
