Bespoke furniture and cabinetmaking

Tables, sideboards, consoles and one-off pieces in solid wood, made in our Grens workshop near Nyon. Traditional joints when the piece deserves them.

Cabinetmaking

Bespoke furniture and cabinetmaking: a one-off piece

Solid-wood tables

The exact size of your room, the timber you choose, legs drawn with you. A table gets passed down, so it may as well be right.

Sideboards, consoles, hall furniture

The furniture you can never find in the right size in a shop.

Traditional joints

Mortise and tenon, dovetails when the piece deserves them. That is what separates cabinetmaking from assembling panels.

A piece from an idea

A sketch on a napkin is enough to get started. We draw it, we price it, then you decide.

Wood is alive

Why solid-wood furniture is designed differently

Wood moves, the joints move with it

A solid-wood table moves with humidity. The joints are designed to absorb that movement, not to fight it.

Finish chosen for how it will be used

Oil, lacquer or wax: the choice depends on what the piece will go through, not just the look you want.

Drawn before you commit

You see the piece drawn before you commit, even for a single item of furniture.

Our method

How it works

Step 1

We come and measure

A free appointment at your home. We take real measurements, listen to what you have in mind, and spot the constraints nobody sees on a plan.

Step 2

Itemised quote, with a 3D plan when the project calls for it

You receive an itemised quote. For larger projects (kitchen, complete fit-out, staircase), we include a 3D plan so you can see the result before deciding. Nothing starts without your written approval.

Step 3

Built in Grens

Everything is made in our workshop, five minutes from Nyon. FSC/PEFC certified timbers, finishes checked piece by piece before anything leaves.

Step 4

Installation & follow-up

Our team installs everything cleanly in your home. We check that it is perfect, make any final adjustments, and stay available for follow-up.

FAQ

Your questions answered

What is the difference between a carpenter and a cabinetmaker?

A carpenter builds and installs fitted work (wardrobes, kitchens, staircases). A cabinetmaker works mainly on furniture and fine detail. At MH Menuiserie, we are both.

Do you make one-off pieces?

Yes, it is the heart of the cabinetmaker's trade. Every piece is designed for a specific place and use.

Can we start from a photo or a sketch?

Yes. Most of our furniture projects start exactly like that.

Do you deliver outside the canton of Vaud?

For furniture and one-off pieces, yes. To be agreed depending on the distance.
